Brooklyn Heights was an amazing beer, all the more for being strong and not tasting it. The Mrs loved Hillsborough Pale Ale too and I must say that Wood Street Pale doesn't hold a candle to it.

I do recall having a bad pint before Christmas though and I would like to know why the family behind Crown sold it. I was invited to a brewery tour which regrettably I didn't take up. But I was impressed that Wood Street took over eary Feb and managed to get a beer to Baa's Of Steel in early March. And they are bottling too which is good to see.Avid Readerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09714283366338352410noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-87120916463415542.post-33028931651997998812012-09-14T12:36:22.008+01:002012-09-14T12:36:22.008+01:00Hello there, yeah, I read your review, and enjoyed...Hello there, yeah, I read your review, and enjoyed your take on the place, indeed it may even have inspired my visit...

Its interesting to see the fortunes of what was also one of my favourite haunts. I even worked their breifly in the late 90's when Del had it, and there were some cracking beers around when Darren was behind the bar, and as recently as 2011 when we went for a couple of family meals. No doubt I'll be back, and will be reporting on it, soon. wee beefyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16922755344809968104noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-87120916463415542.post-43856103238761960052012-09-13T13:01:20.933+01:002012-09-13T13:01:20.933+01:00Visited the Hillsborough a couple of weeks back fo...Visited the Hillsborough a couple of weeks back for the first time since summer 2011. I think Stu Ross had left a few months previously so I didn't get to see how bad the Crown beer actually got. Such a shame as it had been a big favourite of mine.
Came away from my first experience of their Wood Street beers rather unmoved. I too wish them well, but I think they'll have to up their game a bit if I'm to get back to drinking there on a more regular basis again. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
